King Seiko 4402-8000; A rolex crown on Seiko?

44KS: King Seiko Calendar 4402-8000

This is the second generation King Seiko. The first generation of King Seiko look like this. This was the first batch of second generation. The first batch of 4402-8000 is produced by Daini Seikosha in 1965.

The watch is 36mm in diameter with silver white dial. There are few scratches on this dial. The dial of the first batch of this 44KS is slightly different than the second and the third batch. The hands are all finely polished. The date window is highlighted with a silver frame.

The crown is a normal stainless steel replacement. The original crown should be signed "W Seiko", I already spotted an original crown for sell but the price is a bit hefty and therefore a bit reluctant.

The design of this watch, its case, dial and everything are simply beautiful. You won't get tired looking at it for years to come.

Besides the dial, the back case especially the gold emblem is different for the 3 batches of 44KS. The first batch usually has the nicest of all. It is a Swiss like shield with a crown or hahahaaaaaaa a Rolex logo. The shield emblem really gives the watch a majestic sense.

This is the legendary Seiko 4402 movement. 4402A is a manual winding 25 jewels low beating movement. It has a frequency of 18,000 bph.

I had also written about the second batch of 4402-8000 HERE.
