Tissot PR 516: When time stands still!

Tissot PR 516 Handwinding

This looks like a brand new Tissot. How old is it? I am not too sure... I estimated it to be approximately 45 years old. Wow.... Does not age a bit.... I bought this from Hong Kong a couple of years back.

This is a simple 3 hands watch. The case has very smooth simple design that won't be defeated by time. The dial is silver in colour with gold indices and a gold square emblem with big "T" Tissot logo. I always love the sweeping red colour second hand. At the bottom of the dial is a proud declaration of "Swiss Made".

The glass is convex acrylic crystal.

The crown is considered big and it is signed with big "T". There are two lines that run through underneath the T. Really have no clue what this symbolized or maybe just to make the crown more attractive. The big crown  makes winding the watch an easy affair.

The watch is 36mm in diameter and is about 11mm thick.

This watch looks fabulous with leather strap.

The back case is beautifully decorated with a trans-ocean carrack engraving. I have no ideal about the water resistant of this watch. I have not seen any specification anywhere and wouldn't dare to try.

This Tissot PR 516 has a Tissot 17 jewels cal. 781 manual winding mechanism. Cal 781 was produced between 1965 till 1972. It has a frequency of 18,000 A/h and a power reserve of 49 hours.

Imaging if a 40-50 years old lady still retains her 16 years old look..... This is precisely the case... OMG she is so irresistible.......

  1. Beautiful. I have a new-ish PRS516, but I think I prefer yours. At 42mm, the new ones are too big, and with the ETA 2836 movement, they're also thicker.
