Rado Voyager: Inspired by Star Trek?

Rado Voyager: Duo tones

You have to applaud Rado, they came up with so many variations and so many different series. All the wonderful names like: Gazelle, Sabre, Musketeer, Companion and etc. My first encounter with this type of Rado Voyager was back in 1985. I saw my father's friend with the nickname "Pelanduk" or "Deer" wearing it. His was the duo tones with the gold champagne dial. I was charmed by the beauty of it and could not take my eyes off it. Later on that day, I went to the watch shop just opposite my father's office to see if I could find anything like it. There I saw a unit like this retailing for RM470.  I was just a poor primary school student back then..... this one I bought 20 odd years later and out of sentimental values.

This is a gold and stainless steel combination Rado voyager from the late 1980 to early 1990's. I heard they are still an ongoing active model in Thailand and Philippines. According to my source, the retailing price for this Voyager in brand new condition is not cheap at all.

This is with the silver dial with black striped gold hour markers. The day-date windows has a golden frame.

I am no good in taking photograph.... At the center of the acrylic crystal is a tiny Rado anchor logo engraving. Along with the red rotating anchor logo, these are measuring that taken by Rado to differentiate from the fake and aftermarket. The red rotating logo is also said to symbolize the success of Rado automatic watches.

The gold plated Rado anchor logo crown....

The jubilee style bracelet with the Rado clasp....

The screw on stainless steel back case. It is engraved with the word "Rado, Water Sealed" and with 3 beautiful seahorses and 3 stars .

The heart of steel? Even Superman has the heart of flesh.... errerrr maybe Tony Stark.... too much superheroes movies lately.... The heart of this fine timepiece is the ETA 2886-2 movement. A rare variant of ETA with quickset day date. It has 17 jewels and has a frequency of 28,800 bph.
