VVVIP's gift watch

TYT's Souvenir Watch

VVVIP? Very very very IMPORTANT person..... You need to be a prominent distinguished person before being awarded this watch. Does that mean I am an aristocrat or bureaucrat? Nah, certainly not.... I just an average civilian who has a profound love for watches.....

TYT stands for Tuan Yang Terutama which literally mean "The Most Eminent Master". He is the Sarawak state figurehead. Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia. It is also known as Bumi Kenyalang ("Land of the Hornbills"), Below is the Sarawak flag.

Current TYT is Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin bin Abang Barieng. His Excellency gave me this watch during a private function.

This watch is produced by Seastar brand. It used the very reliable Citizen Miyolta quartz movement 2115. 2115 is a 3 hands with date function at 3 o'clock Japanese movement. The watch has a stainless steel oyster casing. I notice the watch bracelet is a replicate of old titoni Cosmo King design and it has a very good thick gold plating. The watch is water resistant to 3 ATM. It has a mineral crystal.

What makes this watch so special is the dial. The dial is a beautiful silver coloured with no indication of brand. There is only the Sarawak State Crest on the top part of the dial and Salahuddin's signature at the botton half. The beautiful synthetic diamonds indices give this watch a sense of high end. In all, this is a cheap reliable watch that is unavailable on any market. The exclusiveness of the watch, make it highly valuable as a souvenir. "Privileges sought by many yet enjoyed by only a discerning few."

Below is the Miyolta 2115 movement pictures...

The bracelet and the rear case is all marked with Seastar brand.

Finish this post with the night view of the Official Residence for Tuan Yang Terutama, The Astana, Kuching.

Rolex Oyster Datejust 16233 Mother of Pearl Dial

Rolex Datejust 16233 mother of pearl dial

This is a duo tones (Stainless Steel with 18k Gold) Rolex datejust. 16233 succeed the ultra popular quick-set date 16013. The only noticeable difference between 16013 and 16233 is the crystal, the later used sapphire glass. The automatic movement also changed from the 27 jewels 3035 to the 31 jewels 3135.  Both movements are chronometer certified.

16233 has a long production span that begins in 1987 till late 2005. It is replaced by 116233. I personally think 16233 is still a more friendlier watch to wear comparing to the latest model. The earlier batch of 16233 comes with lug-holes. Sometimes in 1993, Rolex decided to changed all their models casing to without lug holes.

I bought this from a friend's shop late last year. What is so special about this watch is because of the dial. This is with the white Mother of Pearl and with factory setting 10 genuine diamonds. This watch comes complete with the box and papers with even the original price tag and the rolex seal. The only fault with this watch initially is the reconditioned jubilee bracelet. It is not as comfortable to wear as in its original state. My friend is gracious enough to replace me with another bracelet.

Credor Phoenix Chronograph: Black and White

黑白两道:不死鸟;浴火鳳凰传说
Credor Phoenix Chronograph: 6S78-0A10

This is my second Credor watches. I got the first one back in June 2011. Below is how it looks like. Clicking on the photo will direct you to that article (Credor: The pinnacle of Japanese watch industry).

Don't know what getting into my nerves, I bought another Credor Phoenix Chronograph Ref: 6S78-0A10. However, this is a more complete set i.e. coming with the original box, manual and original stainless steel bracelet.  I always love black dial for watches. I will not go into length on reviewing this watch as I already done it two years ago. So kindly just enjoy the photos of this magnificent oriental origin timepiece.

P.S: I love what is written inside the Credor operating manual.... "Only the unique melding of traditional Japanese sensitivity and state-of-the-art technology can bring you a watch of this quality and character. Doing so is our passion....."
