Orient 60th Anniversary... Let's start with silver medalist....

Orient celebrated its 60th Anniversary on 13th July 2010 and a “60th Anniversary” limited edition watch was released to commemorate the event. The limited edition time piece comes in two variants, one with stainless steel case and another one with a gold (4 microns) plated case. Both the silver and the gold is limited to 1500 pieces worldwide (with 300 pieces each for Japan Domestic Market).
It was relatively easy to grab the gold version.  I managed to secure two gold variant from two local Orient Authorised dealers. The silver version was a headache or it was too highly sought after. It sounded like the stainless steel version was never allocated to the local market and its surrounding region. I needed to resolve into ebaying it from the United States.
It arrived after a week through USPS priority mailing service. The watch comes in a grey coloured cardboard outer box. There is silver printing of Orient 60th Anniversary on the outer box. After the outer box is an impressive solid wooden box. The same wordings of Orient 60th Anniversary was engraved onto the wooden box. The wooden box has a high class feel, black velvet interior.

The box interior also stated Orient 60th Anniversary and with an extra line stating 1950-2010.

The watch outlook is based on the 1950′s retro-vintage. It is simple, yet elegant and is timeless classic. The keyword for this watch is simplicity..... The snow white dial coupled with polished silver hands and indexes, encased with a domed crystal.... A lot of forums or watch enthusiasts think that the power reserve is a merit for the watch, I think otherwise. Personally I would love it to be plain. For me, this is a commemorative or souvenir timepiece, you don't really need extra feature to promote its sale.

This watch has a diameter of 39mm not including the big crown.

The crown is signed with Orient. The large crown made winding the watch very effortlessly. The width between the lugs is 20mm.

The watch comes with a snap-on caseback that is inscribed with “Orient 60th Anniversary Limited Edition 1950 – 2010″. The back case also proudly proclaim this as a Made in Japan. There is also serial number engraved at the case back. This watch of mine is 0363/1500. This watch is water resist to 30M only. Who in the right mind, will go swimming with a classic watch equipped with leather strap.

The leather strap is of shinny crocodile finish and marked Orient on the inside. I have no ideal what QUDEAR means thou.

The leather strap comes with a stainless steel buckle signed with Orient. Perhaps a 60th would be a better choice.

This watch used the 21 jewels caliber 48N40 Orient in house hand wound movement with hacking feature. The movement beats at 21,600bph. Caliber 48N40 has an accuracy of +25 to -15 seconds daily and a power reserve of 40 hours.
Below is some shots of the same watch.... some using a whitebox, others just ordinary shots........ I still have a long way to learn in taking more proper photos.....
