Orient x STI 2010 NBR Challenge Limited Edition

This is the car --- Subaru STI that was used in the 38th Nürburgring 24-Hour Race, which was held on May 15–16 at the Nürburgring circuit in Germany. 


Orient Watch sponsored  the Subaru Impreza WRX STI team (Kazuo Shimizu, Toshihiro Yoshida, Marcel Engels, Carlo van Dam), which completing the race trouble free and taking 24th place overall and 4th place in the SP3T class. During the race, the German driver Marcel Engels wore an Orient watch. The watch, which was specially developed for this race, was subjected to unrelenting vibration during the race and more than 2000 gear changes. The watch also had to endure G-forces many times greater than normal, while keeping accurate time. This is the watch --- the Orient x STI 2010 NBR Challenge Limited Edition. 


So let's get started about this special watch......


The watch comes with an unassuming black hard paper box with silver printing of Orient x STI wordings.


The inner box is much better in design. It uses the carbon black with red stitches theme, giving it a racing feel.  


And wallaaaaaaaaa, here is the watch..... This watch is limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.


The inside of the inner box has the 2010 NBR Challenge Limited Edition printed. 




This watch is designed to be worn while driving, so special attention has been paid to the fit of the watch on the wrist, as well as its unique feel and styling. The finely brushed stainless steel case is measuring 40mm in diameter excluding its unsigned crown. Its thickness is 11.5mm. The watch is fitted with a flat sapphire crystal.





The dial is said to be inspired by the instrument panel of the race car, with the Arabic minute markers resembling the speedometer. The inner circle of the dial has the carbon fiber pattern, while the rest of the dial is black in colour. Besides the Orient logo, it also bears the STI logo.  It has bold and broad luminous hands that make it easy to read when driving at night. 



The watch has a screw see-through case back. This limited edition timepiece uses Orient's new caliber 4874B. This Japanese made 21 jewels automatic movement has a vibration rate of 21,600 bph and an accuracy of +25 to -15 sec/day.  The power reserve is more than 40 hours on paper. It has a date display on 3 o'clock position. This watch has a water resistant of 5 Bar or 50 meters. Its rotor is engraved with the Orient and STI NBR Challenge Limited Edition wordings. Other information about the watch including its serial number is also shown on the caseback. This particular watch is 815 out of the 1000.




The watch uses a black leather strap with red stitches which is the same theme used on the watch box and also the original Subaru WRX STI Recaro leather seat.
